Make Money Online in the Credit Crunch – Top Ten Ways to Make Cash Quickly and Pay Off Debts
Posted in Finances
Do you wish you could make extra cash from home? Now that more people are finding themselves with some unexpected leisure time there will be a swarm of offers to help you “get rich quick”. Beware of scams. Instead look for the simpler, tried and tested ways to earn some money online during the credit crunch.
- Write and sell an eBook. An ebook is simply an electronic version of a book, magazine or article. It doesn’t need to be an oeuvre. Many eBooks are just a couple of pages long. Think of something that you know about that others would find useful. Consider what would interest people in a credit crunch. How to economize, top tips on interviewing, gardening advice etc. You can save the eBook as a pdf using free software and then sell it online. Another way to make money is to give it away free but include a paid advert inside the book.
- Start a blog. It seems everyone is doing it. To make your blog stand out try to update it every day and make sure that your friends and others know about it. Once you have a regular following you will get paid to put banner advertisements up. A common means of being paid is Pay per Click, or PPC. This involves you placing an advert on your blog and the company being advertised pays you every time someone clicks on it.
- Photography. Do you have a stack of photographs from holidays? If you have an artistic eye and some unusual snaps then you can sell the rights to them online. There are plenty of sites such as Fotolia that let you list your photos. Most popular are fairly mundane shots, soft focus, taken at an angle. Think less Vogue and more office equipment catalogue. Of course if you are prepared to be more risque the market opens up somewhat…
- Surveys. Really this was 2008′s big thing, but if you’re prepared to share your opinions and time then there are plenty of marketeers who are willing to pay you. Start to make money online by filling in simple surveys online from a reputable company like YouGov who pay around 2.00 per survey you complete. Bear in mind some surveys can be mind-numbingly dull and take you almost an hour to complete. A more lucrative pastime can be to fill in online competitions and win real prizes.
- Social Networking. It may seem implausible but companies including Yuwie will pay you for using their social networking sites. Its essentially a means of generating traffic, so don’t expect to make your millions, but if you are willing to use the site anyway then it can generate some handy cash.
- Sell on eBay. How many books and tips are there about making money in a credit crunch selling on eBay? A Google search returns thousands. Nonetheless eBay is accessible, easy to set up and can be lucrative. The best product to sell is something that you can duplicate and post very easily. Think of a niche and then check out the competition. Select a quirky “long-tail” product that will appeal to a specialist group, e.g. leather binocular gloves for birdwatchers, rather than trying to sell an iPhone cover along with thousands of others.
- Compete at Poker. Poker is one of the few games where you can actually make money and beat the house. Your skill is being used against other players, not the house. If you are good, or lucky, enough you can make a few hundred per hour. But beware, most players end up losing and its the 10% or so that win regularly that take all the money. Don’t try this if you live in the USA or in any other country with similar laws. In Saudi Arabia you risk 8 years in jail.
- Refer your friends. A simple and effective way to make extra money. Refer your friends to the services you use and you can receive a large incentive fee. From your power company to broadband provider to online store, all are keen to attract customers during the credit crunch. If you refer a friend the company will pay you cash or offer you free calls etc. Remember to check terms first. The great thing is that you can agree with your friends to refer each other for a range of services and all make some credit crunch money online.
- Freelancing. If you can code, draw graphics or write music then there is huge online demand from website developers and small companies. Even if you can’t you can offer your help with anything from secretarial services to reviewing websites. Pay varies but suffice to say you will get paid according to how valuable those skills are and how many others have them. Freelancer and RentaCoder are popular sites that allow you to sign up and bid on work from all over the world.
